By Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (July 20) - Last Thursday night Brad Seng and the MV Collette/Fargo Freightliner crew made the haul up to Winnipeg, Manitoba for a night of racing at Red River Co-op Speedway. A third place finish in his heat put Brad sixth in the 13-car starting grid for the 20-lap main event. As the only North Dakotan in the field, Brad had to pass big name Canadian pilots like Bill Mooney and Shane Edginton en route to taking the lead. It didn’t get much easier up front as he had to hold off Paul Veert and veteran driver Mike Balcaen, but Brad went on to score the victory; his fourth of the year.
Friday night was scheduled to be the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model special at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, but the night was cancelled due to torrential rain shortly after time trials concluded. The team was back in action Sunday evening at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo as the NLRA Late Models co-headlined the Red River Valley Fair special event with the NOSA 410 Sprints. Seng cruised to his 11th heat race win of the season, which put him on the pole for the 25-lap A-main. When the green flag flew Dustin Strand beat Brad into turn one and quickly got out to a comfortable lead. Brad continued to chase the leader, but Strand’s torrid pace was just too much in the early going. Lapped traffic gave Brad a slight glimmer of hope, but when it was all said and done the driver of the S&S Transport #12S had to settle for a runner-up finish.
