By Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (June 1) – This past weekend the Brad Seng Racing team just had one event on their schedule; Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Brad started inside the second row in the third and final Up North Financial Late Model heat race. Brad quickly moved past Steve Anderson on the first lap to take the second spot as he then set his sights on the leader, Dustin Strand. Brad wasn’t able to reel in his fellow Grand Forks driver and had to settle for a runner-up finish.
Seng then started the 20-lap, 20-car main event in the 10th position, but he didn’t stay back there long. On lap eight Brad got by long-time friendly rival, Mike Balcaen, to crack the top five. From there he had to battle the #7P of Joey Pederson and the #1 of Dusty Peterson. By the midpoint of the race, Brad had found the fast line around the high-banked 3/10th mile oval and picked off both competitors in consecutive laps to move into third. As fast as Brad was, it seemed as though the two cars in front of him, Bill Mooney and Dustin Strand, were just a little bit quicker as they had distanced themselves by nearly a full straightaway over the rest of the field. As the dust settled and the checkers flew, Brad came home with a very respectable third place finish, extending his streak of top five’s to six. Looking ahead to next weekend, Brad will be competing once again at River Cities Speedway on Friday night. From there the team will travel to Huron, South Dakota for the $10,000-to-win Challenge Cup XVI at Dakota State Fair Speedway.
