By Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 16, 2017) – Brad Seng claimed his first victory of the 2017 season Friday night at River Cities Speedway. After picking up a heat race win to start the night, Brad started fifth in the 20-lap Performance Auto feature. At the drop of the green flag, Brad quickly began moving forward. He reached the third position by lap two and moved into third by the third circuit. From there, Brad set his sights on leader, Tom Corcoran.
Brad utilized the high groove to take the lead on lap four, but Corcoran came back strong to regain the point the follow lap. The three-time and defending NLRA series champion took the lead for good on the sixth trip around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval, but the race was far from over. In the closing laps, Mike Balcaen began harassing Brad for the lead. Balcaen was able to pull up alongside of Brad on a few occasions, but was never able to clear for the lead. “I couldn’t feel [Balcaen], but I could guess where he was running… right around the bottom,” said Brad following the race. The white flag flew and Balcaen mounted one last charge in the final set of corners, but Seng came around to receive the checkered flag. “It’s always nice to get the first one off your back right away,” Brad said in victory lane. “Hats off to River Cities Speedway on the multi-lane race track we had out there.” Brad and the S&S Transports/Mars Race Cars team will be back in action next Friday night at River Cities Speedway. 2017 Stats: Races: 2 Wins: 1 Top Fives: 2 Top Tens: 2 Heat Wins: 1
