GRAND FORKS, N.D. (October 2, 2023) - Brad Seng headed into the Inaugural Gopher State Showdown at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN having won both of his prior appearances to the three-eighths mile oval earlier this season in the No. 12S S&S Transport / Integrated Steel MB Custom. Seng's third and final appearance in Fergus Falls on Saturday featured a 12-position charge through the field after starting back in the tenth row in the main event. Seng's Saturday night started with a fifth-place finish in the heat race which forced him to have to qualify for the main event through the B-Main. A third-place finish in that race set up his 19th place start in the 30-lap finale.
Seng, whose previous starts at I-94 Speedway led to wins from the inside of the second row on June 3rd, and from the pole on June 23rd had made up four spots until the midway point of the race when he used a pair of restarts with 13 and 11 laps remaining to join Amelia Eisenschenk in passing Bryce Sward, Mitch Johnson, and Tyler Peterson to move within a spot of the top ten. With ten to go, Seng passed Eisenschenk then reeled in Shane Edginton and Michael Leach as he continued his charge through the field. Making the middle of the track work, Seng passed to the outside of Edginton to take eighth, then spent the final laps working on Leach, taking the spot with three to go. Seng's seventh-place finish landed one spot short of being the hard charger of the race as fellow B-Main transferee Cole Schill passed one more car, finishing two spots ahead of Seng in fifth. Seng's comeback at I-94 put a wrap on his 2023 season where the veteran driver scored three wins, 21 top fives, and 25 top tens in 34 nights of racing.
